Ikea Under $1

Category: household items

there haven’t been any posts recently not for lack of projects or lack of bargains, but for lack of camera. i brought my camera in to be repaired a few weeks ago thinking it would be a simple repair (and it’s still under warrantee), but really it got sent out somewhere to be fixed and i still haven’t gotten it back. i’ve actually done a lot of projects both big and small recently: turning old cabinets into a bench, installing a curtain, making a cardboard drawer divider, etc. but i’ll have to wait to get my camera back before posting them.

in the meantime, here’s a collection i compiled of the best items at Ikea for under $1. it’s no secret that i adore Ikea furniture, but their small items are equally awesome.

colorful & fun:
1. CITY bowl – $0.99
these basic glass bowls stand out because of the gorgeous color choices. my favorite is the turquoise (unsurprisingly).
2. VĂ„GHULT tealight holder – $0.99
these small glass candle holders come in 12 different colors.
3. SĂ–T BARNSLIG soft toy – $0.49
these small stuffed animals are made for kids, but at 49 cents a piece i wouldn’t mind letting my cats gnaw on them. they’re also machine washable.
4. DISTANS food saver – $0.99 / 3 pack
these food containers have a screw-on cap so they stay sealed shut easily.
5. PLASTIS dishwashing brush – $0.99
i bought one of these brushes mainly because i liked the look, but now i’m in love with it’s practicality. they remove food residue easier than sponges and with less water and less soap, and the plastic edge at the top is flat for heavy duty scraping. plus there’s a suction cup at the bottom to stand them up on the edge of the sink. and unlike sponges that regularly need to be replaced, my 2-year-old brush is still going strong.
6. IRIS pot holder – $0.99 / 2 pack
these pot holders can double as trivets once the pot or pan makes its way to the table.
7. CHARM bottle opener – $0.99
i love the fun but simple design of these bottle openers and the other pieces in the charm collection (ranging in price from $0.99 to $5.99).

basic:
1. BĂ„STIS lint roller – $0.99
lint rollers are an absolute must-have for any pet owner. i go through these like crazy.
2. AKUT 3-piece kitchen utensil set – $0.59
though i’ll admit i’m not entirely in love with the design, i am in love with the price. unlike wooden utensils, these are dishwasher-safe.
3. SORTI place mat – $0.99
i don’t know how this hand-woven palm leaf place mat fits in with my industrial modern aesthetic, but for some reason i really like it.
4. SPONTAN magnetic rack with 3 magnets – $0.99
this miniature magnet board seems so practical.
5. TEKLA dish towel – $0.49
you can’t beat a 100% cotton dish towel for only 49 cents.
6. RIGEL hook – $0.99
i like the sleek and simple shape of this 7″ hook.
7. MOTTO GLAS bowl – $0.99
i’m in love with the shape of this bowl. i have a few of the ceramic version of this that i got on sale for 25 cents each, but my ice cream would look so much prettier in the glass one.
8. DOKUMENT pen cup, set of 2 – $0.99
i adore steel in all shapes and forms, including these desktop cups.
9. MOLGER soap dish – $0.99
this solid wood soap dish with modern clean lines is a total steal.
10. BILLIG plant pot – $0.49
this white plant pot is so crisp and clean, far prettier than terra cotta.
